In August 2022, ITFA & Komgo jointly published the Trade Finance Taxonomy which summarised the complete range of trade finance products and techniques on a single page. The taxonomy depicts different areas, techniques and instruments involved in trade finance in a holistic diagrammatic manner. Traditionally, primary and secondary markets have been quite siloed; the taxonomy brings them together. The taxonomy is available here.
“Basel IV”, “Basel Endgame, or ”Basel 3.1.” has changed and will continue to shape the lending landscape among banks regulated in various jurisdictions. The impact cuts across primary and secondary markets. While there is a lot of uncertainty about deadlines and the actual application of new capital requirements, the distribution of trade assets emerges as a common tactic to overcome some of the challenges.
ITFA is launching a Trade Asset Distribution – Basel Impact and Banks Readiness survey into the wider bank community to prepare the first industry report quantifying the global trade finance distribution market.
Thanks to your voices, we will be able to prepare a fact-based report to:
Each bank member organisation is asked to give its opinion, to be submitted by the individual most knowledgeable on the matter of Basel IV & Trade Finance Distribution.

The survey is operated by ITFA on a fully anonymous basis. Komgo acts as operational support to the study.
Votes submitted cannot be traced back to the organisations casting them. For representation purposes, however, ITFA & Komgo preload the organisations and email addresses of the recipients for the anonymous votes. The survey is run using QuestionPro service [Link: https://www.questionpro.com/survey-software/]. Should anyone else be added to the survey, please reach out to: Izabela.czepirska@komgo.io
If your organisation blocks emails from QuestionPro Survey, please reach out to us for an alternative delivery of the vote. Votes are not transferable.
