ITFA Americas: Sustainable Trade Finance Event, March 4th, 2024, Toronto
Contributed by ITFA Americas Regional Chapter, March 2024
ITFA was proud to host its first Sustainable Trade Finance event in Canada last night, in parallel to the PDAC Convention, with support and sponsorship by Komgo. The event gathered a panel session discussing the opportunities for Sustainable Trade Finance focused on the Metals & Mining sector, which is critical for the transition to a low carbon economy globally. Panelists shared relevant insights for the financial industry as well as for participants active in the Metals and Mining sector, as we advanced discussions into alternative financing and the trends for sustainable finance applicable for the sector.
ITFA Americas Board Member Azzizza Larsen (Marsh) opened the evening sharing ITFA’s perspective and contributions in this space, followed by a discussion moderated by Thatyanne Gasparotto (Natixis CIB), with panelists Lucio Feijo Lopes (Feijo Lopes Advogados), and Mayur Mukati (SMBC).
Thank you again to our sponsor Komgo and Amable Bueno for their support in mounting this great event!
ITFA Americas and IECA (International Energy Credit Association) Rodeo Educational Event, March 7, 2024, Houston
Contributed by ITFA Americas Regional Chapter, March 2024
ITFA Americas Chapter is proud to have partnered with IECA for our joint Education event in Houston in celebration of the exciting Rodeo. It was wonderful to sponsor this event and partner with IECA (International Energy Credit Association). Sending a big thank you to IECA’s EVP Heather Buerger as well as sponsors Bondaval – Lisa Varney and team, Haynes & Boone – Phil Lookadoo and One Source Risk Management/Alliant – John Flahaut.
Todd Lynady of WTW led a dynamic panel on risks impacting the Energy Industry in 2024. Panelists Diana Bustamante of ITFA Americas, John Flahaut of One Source Risk Management/Alliant, Phil Lookadoo of Haynes & Boone, Jay Rose of Navitas Assurance Partners, Thomas Fortin of ATCO, Eric Twombly and Akshay Singh of Golden Pass discussed and debated credit, commercial and political risks including energy prices, weather/climate policy, cybersecurity, ocean freight prices, vessel tracking and “subterfuge” (shout out to Michael Byrne at IIBLP & Byron McKinney S&P Global), Standby Letters of Credit, Sureties, interest rates, liquidity… and the list goes on!
We finished off the event with a drinks and tacos reception at The Rustic downtown – where participants kicked back Rodeo style—networked and shared “war stories” from the industry. There was no shortage of cowboy boots and hats.
