ITFA’s Africa Regional Committee (ARC) and Southern European Regional Committee (SERC) are holding jointly holding a webinar which will explore the differing perceptions of risk in Africa trade finance, both real and imagined, and how to make trade finance deals ‘work’ in these markets. This webinar is aimed at trade financial professionals and those underwriting trade in Africa.

10:05     Keynote presentation: ‘Outlook for Europe-Africa trade flows’
 
In this session, Tedd George (ARC Secretariat) will explore the trade flows between Europe and Africa, the trends and outlook, as well as the opportunities and risks for growing trade between the two regions.
 
This session will include a short Q&A at the end.
 
10:30     Keynote presentation: ‘Understanding and mitigating risks in African trade finance’
 
In this session Simon Cook of Sullivan & Worcester and ITFA Board member, will explore how to understand risk in African trade finance, dispelling the negative image held by many European banks and insurers, and recommend tools to mitigate this risk and distribute it.
 
This session will include a short Q&A at the end.
 
11:00    Expert panel discussion
 
In this concluding session, moderated by Tedd George, an expert panel including Simon Cook, Alberto Carrion (SERC Chair) and speakers from European banks that finance African trade, will discuss the issues, challenges and opportunities raised in the presentations. Speakers will be confirmed shortly.
 
This session will conclude with an audience Q&A.
