ITFA Emerging Leader of 2020

The ITFA Emerging Leaders (ELs) are pleased to announce the launch of ‘ITFA Emerging Leader of 2020’. The initiative was set up to recognise the efforts of ITFA ELs the trade finance industry, allowing them to showcase their ideas and their work for the benefit of the industry.

EL’s are encouraged to submit projects which are designed to make a significant contribution to the trade finance industry by the 30th of June 2020, and the 3 finalists will be announced on 31st July 2020 (best 3 projects will be shortlisted to attend the ITFA annual conference – we will announce further conference details once there is more clarity around the current COVID-19 situation). The Winner will be announced Q3 of 2020.

ITFAs first successful “Young Trade Financier of the Year 2019” award went to a trio of ITFA members: Charlotte Prior (Gulf International Bank), Alero Arubi and Nigel Atta-Mensah (Crown Agents Bank) – the three submitted a project that narrowed in on the trade dilemma, looking at issues between buyers and sellers when it comes to sending and receiving payment, risks and trust. The team looked at some of the key risks around transport, currency, government and financial risk. The team has produced a series of new content on the ITFA website and a Guide to Trade Finance, based on making trade an understandable and investable asset class, potentially seeking to fill the void of the $1.5 trillion trade finance deficit.
