Members of ITFA’s DNI Initiative are delighted to contribute – for the first time ever – to Paris Europlace’s landmark event. ITFA members Casterman Advisory, CGI and Société Générale as well as law firm Caprioli Associés and Paris Europlace itself will be debating the need to reform French law to progress the digitization of trade & supply chain transactions. - In May 2022, the Queen’s Speech to the State Opening of the UK Parliament mentioned that the Electronic Trade Documents Bill will be part of the new laws to be voted on the upcoming session of Parliament.
- Once passed, digital bills of exchange, promissory notes, bills of lading and warehouse receipts will become a legal reality and advance the cause of trade digitisation way beyond the shores of Great Britain.
- In France, under the leadership of Philippe Henry and Béatrice Collot, Paris Europlace has recently launched a new MLETR working group to align French law to the model law. The opportunities for increased efficiency and client satisfaction are borderless which is why all French trade banks are contributing to this effort including ICC France.
- The ITFA Fintech committee launched the DNI Initiative in 2019 to prepare technology vendors to support such new digital options by simply embedding e-original technology.
- The DNI Initiative has established the most specialised community of technology firms, financial institutions, corporates and additional stakeholders committed to digitise trade documents and negotiable instruments as per UNCITRAL MLETR-compatible laws. Banks are now engaging in technology pilots.
