As part of ITFA’s outreach to African financial institutions, the Africa Regional Committee is hosting a series of webinars aimed at financial professionals working in Africa. These webinars explore topical issues in trade, as well as the basics of trade finance, with insights and learnings drawn from ITFA’s network of experts.

The fifth and sixth webinars in this series will take place on Wednesday July 5th, as follows:

10:00-11:00 West Africa Time: Webinar 5, ‘Trade insurance in the African context’.

In this webinar, hosted by Tedd George (Kleos Advisory), ARC member Albert Rweyemamu, Senior Political & Credit Risk Underwriter at the African Trade Insurance Agency (ATI), will discuss the benefits that trade insurance can bring to African trade, exploring how the ATI can help FIs, exporters and importers navigate the challenges, opportunities and solutions for de-risking Africa’s supply chain. The webinar will include case studies of trade insurance in Africa and an online Q&A.

12:00-13:00 West Africa Time: Webinar 6, ‘Fintech in African trade finance’.

In this webinar, Tedd George (Kleos Advisory) will explore the different technologies being deployed in Africa’s trade value chain, including fintech, tradetech and blockchain, and the benefits they are bringing to African traders and the banks that finance them. The webinar will include presentations by Ahanna Anaba, Head of Sales, Digital Solutions & Partnerships at Finverity, and Samora Kariuku, Director of Fintech at Sote, case studies of their work in African trade and an online Q&A.
