ITFA Africa Regional Committee Elections

The second ITFA Africa Regional Committee (“ARC”) elections are scheduled to take place in November 2022. During the first five years of operation since its foundation, the Committee achieved a number of significant wins for trade finance in Africa, including of course a very successful ITFA Annual Conference in African soil (Cape Town 2018, with over 40 delegates from Africa in attendance), as well as a number of educational seminars and networking events across the continent. The most recent addition to this was the publication of the ITFA Position Paper on Sustainability and African Trade Finance, which can be accessed here.

The ARC statutes state that only ITFA Members domiciled in Africa can vote in the ARC elections, but don’t impose any restrictions in terms of which members can submit their candidacy. As such, we would like to invite all ITFA members who believe they could add a meaningful contribution to the ARC during the next three year mandate, to submit their candidacy to the forthcoming election.

The elections will be held electronically and each ITFA member domiciled in Africa will be sent a link to an online voting platform, alongside an outline of all the candidate institutions. Once at the voting platform, the main delegate will be able to select the eight candidates meriting a vote from the entire candidate pool.

If your institution is interested in being considered for election, please send an email to Alexia Vella (alexiavella@itfa.org) expressing the intention to run, including a justification of why the institution and its main delegate should be elected (maximum 1000 characters). Although this is not mandatory according to the statutes, we would naturally suggest that some evidence is produced of the candidate’s involvement with African business.

Applications must be received by 5.00pm London time on Tuesday 1st November 2022.
