Shaahien Mottiar has 21 years of experience in banking across trade finance, transaction banking, credit, risk, strategy, and analytics. He is currently the Head of Trade & Working Capital Portfolio Management at Standard Bank. He was also previously the regional Head of Trade for 5 of Standard Bank’s markets in Southern and Central Africa.  Prior to moving into the transaction banking / trade function in 2015, he spent 10 years in various roles in the credit and risk functions across the group. Shaahien has been with Standard Bank from 2003.

Shaahien holds an MBA from Edinburgh Business School, Heriot Watt University, and a degree in Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand. He also holds an Alternative Investment Analyst Charter from the CAIA institute.
