Sam Fowler-Holmes is a Partner in the London office of European law firm Fieldfisher LLP, leading their trade, commodity and export finance practice. Sam advises a wide range of traditional and alternative trade financiers and market participants spanning global, regional and local financial institutions, multilateral and development financial institutions, impact and trade funds, fintechs, electronic platform providers and corporates.

His practice covers the full spectrum of trade financings, from structured pre-export, prepayment, warehouse, inventory and borrowing base financings to letter of credit and payment instrument facilities to silent discounting and silent payment guarantee transactions. Sam has particular expertise in supply chain financings, advising clients on a range of traditional and bespoke receivables and payables finance structures, including the use of electronic platforms. He also advises clients on a range of distribution and risk mitigation techniques, including funded and unfunded participations, standby letters of credit and demand guarantees, and on insurance-related issues.

He has been a member of the ITFA Emerging Leaders Committee since January 2020.

Sam studied law at the University of Oxford and completed an LLM specialising in Public Law and Human Rights at University College London.
