Matthew commenced his banking career working for CDC-IXIS in Frankfurt in 2001, before returning to the UK in 2003 to work for WestLB, in London, where he was based for 8.5yrs, the last four years of which were in the Loan Syndication team with specific responsibility for Credit Risk Insurance placement.  In December 2011 he joined the Loan Capital Markets team at SMBC Bank International plc, and became the Head of Insurance Placement (EMEA) in 2020, holding responsibility for insurance placement for all business lines and product classes for the EMEA region, as well as providing direct support for the Americas and APAC regional hubs as part of the global bank platform of credit risk insurance as a distribution tool. Matthew has been a member of the ITFA Insurance Committee since its inception in 2015.
