Makiko Toyoda
Makiko Toyoda is Global Head of Global Trade Finance Program & Global Supply Chain Finance Program at International Finance Corporation (IFC) (World Bank Group) based in Washington DC. Makiko has more than 30 years of trade & supply chain finance and banking experiences, having worked in Washington DC, Johannesburg, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, London, Frankfurt, and Tokyo. She joined IFC in 2003 and was the Sub-Saharan Africa Head based in Johannesburg before assuming the current role in 2017. She is a member of WTO’s Trade Finance Expert Working Group. Prior to joining IFC, she worked for EBRD where she worked on trade and commodity finance programs, and for the Industrial Bank of Japan where she was the Deputy General Manager. She also worked for Kreditanstalt fuer Wiederaufbau under the Staff Exchange Program. Makiko holds a BA degree in Economics from Keio University and a Master’s degree from SAIS, Johns Hopkins University.
