Lisa Azzaro
Lisa Azzaro is an Underwriter and Risk Analyst on the Trade Credit, Political Risk and Surety (TCPRS) Team at Markel Company, and resides in New York. Her 18 years of experience includes derivatives documentation, operations, risk, credit, and underwriting. Lisa’s prior commodities experience spanning oil, natural gas, NGLs, sulphuric acid and metals has given her an advantage in the underwriting space and a niche in the dynamic markets. Her expansive commodity experience has complimented Markel’s current book and continues to lead to strategic growth opportunities.
Previously, Lisa sat on the credit desk at Glencore Ltd and was responsible for managing the company’s fracking business and supporting bunker marketers and traders. She started her career at Morgan Stanley in the derivatives space and completed MS’s analyst program after attending the University of Florida. Lisa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Women’s Studies and Gender Research, with a minor in Business Administration and completed her degree with honors.
As an advocate for Title IX and equal opportunity, Lisa is also the co-lead of the Markel Women’s Network (MWN) Support and Advocacy Pillar. This employee resource group (ERG) provides feedback on improving benefits and policies and offers company-wide trainings globally. Additionally, the group leads initiatives to improve working experiences for new in career and more tenured employees.
When not working, Lisa loves working out, especially boxing, and gets to spend time with her loving husband and two boys Franklin and Rex.
