Julius Karuga
Julius Karuga assumed the role of Chief Trade Finance Investment Officer at the African Development Bank in 2024, with responsibility for origination and execution of trade finance solutions in collaboration with financial institutions and commodity aggregators. Prior to this, he was Principal Investment Officer based in Nairobi, responsible for originating and executing liquidity and equity relations with leading commercial banks and DFIs. He also spent close to five years at ATIDI (formerly ATI) – in Nairobi and Kigali – providing trade credit and investment risk insurance solutions to traders, financiers and investors. Julius cut his teeth at KCB Group and NCBA Group, both leading banking groups in East Africa. Julius holds an MA and BA in economics, both from Kenyatta University in Kenya.
