TF COP

Following the 1 year celebration of the Washington Declaration, issued after the first TF COP Summit in Washington DC (hosted by the International Finance Corporation on the 28th October 2024), and further to the launch of the TF COP Task Force on the 3rd July 2025, TF COP is again holding its Annual Conference. This year it will take place on the 21st November, at the News Building, 3 London Bridge Street, London, UK.

This is a great opportunity for trade finance experts to work collaboratively to halve the global trade finance gap of US$ 2.5 trillion by 2030 and eliminate it entirely by 2040. This requires a concerted effort of the many members TF COP already has attracted.

TF COP embodies a pragmatic, industry-driven approach to solving what many consider the most persistent barrier to inclusive global trade. Given the SME financing gap, which has been recognised by the UN as a key threat to the SDG goals, and the role that development banks have in overcoming this problem, TF COP is fully aligned with their efforts and aims to bring them to the core of the solutions we devise.

The members from Development Bank Institutions consist of:

The support of industry bodies to create, change, and update policies, laws, and regulations and establish the foundation for inclusive sustainable trade finance approaches and promote financing of SMEs’ productive capacity in developing and emerging markets contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals is essential. Five trade associations are member of TF COP:

  • Bankers Association for Finance & Trade (BAFT) – www.baft.org
  • Berne Union (Global Association for Export Credit & Investment Insurance Industry) – www.berneunion.org
  • Factors Chain International (FCI) – www.fci.nl
  • International Credit Insurance & Surety Association (ICISA) – www.icisa.org
  • International Trade & Forfaiting Association (ITFA) – www.itfa.org

To implement the efforts of the DFIs and the trade associations, numerous private sector companies, banks, non-banking finance institutions, insurance and fintech companies, etc. have also joined TF COP.

After 21 November 2025, focus will be on making a difference through real change. This will continue to happen through the TF COP Incubator and also through the TF COP Working Groups, which focus on innovative solutions to create new ways to implementing trade finance and eradicating the financing gap over the next 15 years.
