The ITFA Board is delighted to announce that Mr. Jeremy Lawson – Chief Economist, Standard Life Investments, will be the key-note speaker at this year’s ITFA Annual Conference in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Jeremy Lawson is Chief Economist at Standard Life, one of the biggest fund managers in the world. Standard Life is an investment company employing 6,300 people – through operations in the UK, Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. Standard Life plc is listed on the London Stock Exchange with around 1.2 million individual shareholders. They administer £357 billion and support around 4.5 million customers and clients in 45 countries across the globe.
At the Conference, Jeremy will talk about two of the biggest issues facing the global economy. What will be the impact of Brexit on not just the UK but Europe, the world’s largest trading bloc? With fact and fiction increasingly intertwined in the Trump presidency, can we know anything about how one of the biggest influences on the world’s biggest economy will act? What better guide than Jeremy?
Jeremy has been a professional macroeconomist for sixteen years and has held a range of senior positions in both the public and private sectors. He began his career at the Reserve Bank of Australia, where he rose to the position of Senior Research Economist. He then joined the OECD in Paris, where he worked extensively on European public policy issues and was the Head of the Hungary/Slovenia desk. In 2010 Jeremy joined the Institute of International Economics as the Deputy Director of Global Macroeconomics before moving on to BNP Paribas as a Senior US economist, specialising in Fed policy, as well as fiscal issues and inflation.
In 2013, Jeremy then joined Standard Life Investments as Chief Economist. Jeremy holds an MSc in Public Financial Policy from the London School of Economics and took a sabbatical in 2007 to advise the then Australian Opposition Leader, Kevin Rudd on economic and environmental policy.
We look forward to welcoming Mr. Jeremy Lawson in Edinburgh, and we look forward to seeing you all soon.
